Messages

Product news from Ritmus. Both off.
Event updates
Messages from an event you hold a seat at: agenda reminders, and news that it moved or was called off. Both on.
Invitations
Organization and co-host invites. Both on.

The pattern behind the defaults is whether you started the thing. You made an event, you took a seat at one, someone asked you to help run one.
Event updates being separate from Announcements matters more than it looks. Announcements is product news, and cancellations used to go out under it, which meant unsubscribing from the newsletter also unsubscribed you from "tonight's event is off". They are two switches now and always will be.
Push needs a per-device permission on top of the preference, asked once. Turning a push preference off does not remove anything from your in-app notification list.
