Following
How guests keep up with organizers they like, and what that puts in their feed.
Following works on both people and organizations, from the button in either header. It is one-directional and needs no approval.
What it buys is the Following tab of the home feed, which has three sources:

Upcoming events from the people and organizations you follow.
•
Events you have answered yourself.
•
Events the people you follow said they are going to.

That third source only carries Going answers, never Maybe, and it respects the attendee's own privacy switch. Someone who turned off the display of events they are attending does not leak into their followers' feeds through this route either.
Follower counts are public on both profiles and organization pages. There is no private following and no follower approval.
